VELKA

We have eaten at Velka before, so it was nice to go there again. Three of us went and had a blast. We sat in the outside area. It was late afternoon, so the delightful Jerusalem breeze made it very comfortable. Service was quick and attentive. Our only complaint? We ordered a bottle of Evian and it was served room temperature. Apparently the refrigerator must have not had room for a bottle of water and as it was Israel, ice was not on the menu!

Other than that, however, all was well. Between us we had three great meals. One of us had a large salad with fruit cut into it. Most delish!

One of us had a personal pizza. It was very personal and a tad on the small side, but it was most tasty and enjoyable.

The third person had a side salad that was served along side a HUGE portion of lasagna. Seriously- this was a serious size of food. It must have weighed in at close to a pound! It was, by the way, most tasty and served piping hot!

For drinks we had one cafe hafooch, one coffee with ice (not ice cafe as that is a smoothie), and the aforementioned warm Evian.

The price was on the slightly high side of reasonable, service was good, and the food is excellent. Oh, by the way, we asked for some sliced cucumbers for the grandson, and they were served most graciously.

All in all, it was a lovely afternoon meal.

Velka is located in Rehavia on Ibn Shaprut St (near the Wolfson Towers).
